Back in 1997, when I was a third grader, I became involved in WVI activities as a sponsored child. A letter from my sponsor once arrived was a powerful reminder to chase my dreams. Without WVI, I can't imagine how a child like me could have found hope for the future, especially in the aftermath of the Poso riots. I am forever grateful for the impact WVI has had on my life.
I joined the WVI Children's Forum in junior high school, where I was allowed to lead. We discussed children's rights and problems, and I learned to voice my aspirations and opinions. 2010, I established Haga Pendidikan Ono Niha, a movement to combat injustices in our education system. I attribute all of this to WVI.
Thanks to being a WVI-sponsored child, I boarded a plane. From there, I became interested in becoming a flight attendant, and currently work for an Indonesian airline.
When I was young, the most prevalent children's issue in our village was underage smoking including me. However, since I joined as a WVI-sponsored child, I have been mentored and have participated in WVI's children's forum. I was a child with no purpose in life, but now I have been able to open a business, become a coffee shop entrepreneur, and work at Pertamina.
Our family's finances have been difficult since childhood. Since I became a sponsored child, I have received help from WVI. WVI is the best solution and a way out for me when our conditions are difficult.
The assistance I received from WVI made me more courageous, confident, and not afraid to reach my dreams. Because of WVI, I had the opportunity to visit the Bogor Palace on National Children's Day, meet the President, and receive a bicycle.
